The Browns have released wide receiver Jordan Norwood.

Norwood has had trouble with his hamstring for the last few weeks, limiting his opportunities on the field. The injury, combined with the number of slot receivers on the roster this season was too much for Norwood to overcome and stick with the team.

The Browns traded for Davone Bess during the draft to be their primary slot receiver. Travis Benjamin has played on the outside and in the slot, and Josh Cooper has played the slot well in the preseason. Both Benjamin and Cooper can play special teams and can return punts.

Norwood caught 12 passes in 2012, but nine of those came in one game against the Giants. For his career, Norwood has 36 receptions for 405 yards and one touchdown.
